Houston City Book: "Photos, Paintings, Playlists, Sculptures: Three Must-See Shows at Houston Museum of African American Culture"
The Bert Long, Jr. Spring Survey Exhibition is open annually to Houston-area emerging artists. This year, there are nine artists on view, and one of the artists will be chosen for the 2024 Bert Long, Jr. Prize which includes a $3,000 cash award and a summer solo exhibition in the Bert Long, Jr. Gallery.

Glasstire: Houston Endowment Launches Jones Artist Award for Emerging Local Artists
Houston Endowment’s inaugural exhibition, “Salvation is my heart on display,” features works by Shavon Aja Morris, Jakayla Monay, Raul Rene Gonzalez, and Jessica Phillips. The show brings together artists working in a variety of media, including photography, painting, ceramics, and printmaking, to address “topics such as racism, colorism, parenting, and the complexities of human interaction.”
